San Diego Daily Dive Reports

Visibility: 5-15 feet

Surf: 2-3 feet

Water temp: 68-71 F

Nice surface conditions today with clear skies, low winds, and mild surf. Surface layer has still been a bit murky and spotty down to 30' or so, but there are some windows starting to open up. Expect about 10' vis in most shallow areas, closer to 15' vis below 30' of depth

Water temp: 68-72

Water has warmed back up again since we had the upwelling event a couple weeks ago. Unfortunately it's still pretty murky. Yesterday we had 5-10 foot vis at the shores and down into the canyon

Visibility: 5-15 feet

Surf: 2-3 feet

Water temp: 67-70

Murky layer for the first 20-30 feet and then clear water below that. Great surface conditions today and plenty of life out at the Shores

Surf: 2-4 feet

Water temp: 67-70

Lots of different reports coming in, seems like conditions are very variable and spotty right now. Surface layer of murk is still hanging around to various depths, usually around 25-30' it clears up nicely though

Visibility: 0-10 feet

Surf: 2-3 feet

Water temp: 67-70

More murk, especially near the surface. A small increase in swell and an early breeze from the south aren't killing the visibility, but they aren't helping it either. Make sure to check out tomorrow event Rocks Rips and Reefs (3Rs). It's an incredible way to learn about snorkeling, safety, entry points, and a whole other slew of information that will be put out by volunteers who have worked and dove here for decades. Bring you mask and your fins and get ready to get wet!

Went freediving in the canyon yesterday and it was chilly and very murky (5-8' visibility), one of those days where it didn't clear up with depth but actually got darker. Expect today to be similar, especially with the early morning surface chop

More of the same! Murky near the surface and close to shore, opens up nicely around 30 feet of depth. Lots of Leopard Sharks in the shallows at La Jolla Shores right now too!

Visibility: 5-15 feet

Surf: 2-3 feet

Water temp: 68-71 F

More of the same today with nice surface conditions, a murky layer at the surface down to about 30', and then clear water beneath that. Tons of Leopard sharks at La Jolla Shores as well!

Great reports from deep in the canyon yesterday...20-30' visibility at depth, and down a little further (90 feet of depth or so) it opened up reeaally nicely! Shallows at the shores are clear as well. Anything from about 5 to 40 feet of depth seemed to be pretty murky though, which is where a lot of people will be spending their time. Definitely worth getting out there, especially to see all the Leopard sharks at the Shores or to get down into the canyon!
